Privacy policy

How we handle personal data when you use this website or contact us.

Last updated: 5 November 2026

This policy explains how Server Defenders (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use serverdefenders.com or contact us. We aim to collect as little as possible and to use it only for the reason you gave it to us. This policy is provided for transparency and is not legal advice.

Who we are

Server Defenders provides server security and support services. For anything relating to your personal data, please contact us using the contact form.

What we collect

  • Contact and emergency forms: your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to give us (for example company name, phone number, the website or server affected, the platform you use and the number of servers).
  • Abuse protection: to stop spam, our form handler keeps a short-lived record of a one-way hashed version of your IP address and the time of submission. It is deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider and our content delivery and security provider (Cloudflare) process technical information such as IP addresses and browser details in order to deliver the website and protect it from attacks.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry or emergency request and to provide the support you ask for.
  • To keep the website and our forms secure and free from abuse.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or add you to marketing lists.

Lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we rely on legitimate interests (replying to messages you send us and protecting our website) and, where you ask us about our services, on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

How long we keep it

Form messages are delivered to our email inbox and kept only for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up, and to meet any legal obligations. Rate-limit records are deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours. The website itself does not store your messages in a database.

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run the website and our email, such as our hosting provider and Cloudflare, under their own data protection terms. We will disclose data if the law requires it.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for tracking or advertising. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the site from bots and attacks.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. To make a request, contact us using the contact form. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
